Jeddah Islamic Port, industry and hotels
Jeddah Islamic Port shapes many of the city's facilities. The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has contracted integrated logistics zones at the port, including a new zone at the Al-Khumra site. Trucks and containers move between port and warehouses around the clock, which makes gate logging and goods-out passes a daily, non-stop task.
The Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) oversees three industrial cities in Jeddah, and Rabigh Industrial City further north. Factories there run continuous shifts with contractors and suppliers entering every day.
On the hospitality side, hotels line the Corniche and waterfront, and new projects keep being added. King Abdulaziz International Airport, with its Hajj and Umrah terminal, brings large numbers of pilgrims through the city, so many hotels and serviced apartments fill up during the Hajj season and Ramadan.
