Summer in Al Baha and the heritage villages
The region combines the Tihama plains and the Sarawat mountains, and its mild summer draws visitors from across the Kingdom. It organises a yearly "Summer in Al-Baha" season with many events, and in 2026 the regional governor reviewed a report on tourism activity and service quality during the season.
The region has more than 194 archaeological and heritage sites, including 72 heritage villages, some of which now receive visitors and are adding hospitality facilities. In 2021 the Tourism Development Fund signed an agreement for a 200-room luxury resort, part of a clear move into hospitality.
Outside the season, the region runs at a calmer pace: government offices, schools, hospitals and markets in Al Baha city, Baljurashi, Al Mandaq, Al Makhwah, Al Aqiq and Qilwah. Al Bahah appears among the industrial cities overseen by the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON), but most guarding demand here comes from hospitality, education and administrative buildings, and it changes between summer and the rest of the year.
